Youth
Middle School (grades 6–8) | High School (grades 9–12)
North Heights Youth partners with families in their God-given role of training and instructing their youth in their faith. We see our role as preparing students to build a lasting faith through knowledge, relationships, and experience. We desire to help students find their true identity and acceptance in Jesus Christ where we believe they will find their greatest joy.
Youth
Wednesdays, September 13–May 15, 6:30–8pm, Arden Hills
At Grow Wednesdays, youth will be a part of a deep community that emanates the love of Jesus and equips them to be a lifelong follower of Him. This is a safe space for youth to be themselves and experience the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit through prayer, worship, messages, and small groups while having lots of fun! This year, North Heights Youth will look at what it means to live a "God-filled" life and what it means to worship and glorify God in all that we do. We will discuss how we worship through our words, actions, rest, and through all aspects of life
Foundations Confirmation
Sunday, October 8, 12 – 1pm Arden Hills Youth Room
12 – 1pm the first time; 9 – 10am every other Sunday
Confirmation is an important milestone and opportunity for youth (grades 7 – 12) to build a foundation of faith that will last the rest of their lives. This is a two-year program where students will commit to Jesus and better understand the specific vision of North Heights.
The first meeting is an information and overview meeting where students and parents will learn about the programs, expectations, and take-home lessons. This is a great space for students and parents to ask questions and decide if God is calling them to be confirmed.
Meetings throughout the year will have several components such as breakfast, going over take-home lessons, learning, and relationship building. Year One will focus on the scriptures that provide baseline knowledge and application to life. Year Two takes students through Youth Alpha, Luther’s Small Catechism, and the vision of North Heights.
Other objectives of this confirmation program are as follows:
- Presenting the core of the Christian faith through study of scripture and Luther’s Small Catechism and using these texts as the context for exploring current issues in confirmands’ everyday lives;
- Promoting the development of faith practices—habits of Christian discipleship—in confirmands by providing opportunities for and encouraging reflection upon worship, prayer, service, study, fellowship, retreats, encouragement, etc.;
- Strengthening confirmands’ identification with the Church by facilitating relationship-building with other members of North Heights through both small group and large group experiences guided by trained and caring adults;
- Preparing confirmands for the rite of Affirmation of Baptism and the life of discipleship which follows.
